Oprah Winfrey set to call time on iconic chat show after 25 years

Oprah Winfrey broke down in tears on television yesterday as she told why she is quitting her long-running daytime talk show.

‘This show has been my life, and I love it enough to know when it’s time to say goodbye,’ she said, her voice choking with emotion.

The 55-year-old, who has amassed an estimated £1.6 billion fortune, said she only reached her decision ‘after much prayer and months of careful thought’.

But she will continue hosting The Oprah Winfrey Show until the end of its 25th season in 2011.
